Writers have a thing that that they call a writer’s prompt. It’s simply something, like a picture or sentence, that ‘prompts’ them to write something based on the idea. This can be used as an exercise, or when you don’t have any ideas on what to write.
Here’s a prompt for you:
Somebody is knocking on your door.
What does that put into your mind? What’s the idea that you get?
– – (Don’t be afraid to Share!) – –
Is it the police coming to arrest you? A monster pretending to be something more innocent? A lynch mob wishing to come in?
Or is it a friend who came by to visit? Your family coming home? An invited guest coming to dinner?
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20
A lot of people treat God like He’s out to get us, like anytime now He’s going to ‘arrest’ us for our sins, or He’s some powerful monster waiting to destroy us, or a raging force ready to kill us.
So they certainly don’t want to open the door of their hearts and let him in.
But God is not like that, He’s a loves us, and He wants to come into our lives and become our Friend, or Family, Our Guest.
He’s ready to change us for the better, by joining us in life forever.
And all we need to do to open the door of our hearts, accept Him, and all the benefits of being a friend, being family, and having God as our honored guest will be ours.
So, God is knocking on your door. If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your savior, and want to know more, contact me.
If you consider yourself a Christian already, don’t leave Him out of your life. He should be your constant companion. Whether you’re eating Dinner, fighting a battle, or waking up in the morning.
There are monsters out there, devils and demons who would love you to open doors. But God isn’t one of them, with Him inside, none can stand against you.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
